What’s Occurring at Diogenes?

Our YBN Post Easter Weekend arrangements are taking good shape now, and we’ve definitely secured most of the equipment for the Karaoke evening too (just need to find a good sized flat screen TV or monitor to assist with the sing-along). With complimentary massage treatments available in 30 minute slots over the weekend, plus a spectacular Indian Food Feast evening lined up for Saturday night, we’re expecting this one to get very busy indeed. Club members very welcome to attend and help make our YBN visitors at home.

Busy time in prospect this coming weekend, with a 30+ strong member’s social event organised for the Saturday evening, plus a couple of boule meleés in place for the Sunday afternoon too. Weather looking half reasonable at the moment, so fingers crossed it will be a dry one. Come one come all, dust off your boule and let’s get practising again for the season ahead.

GBSD Swim Night at Diogenes

With a second GBSD (Great British Skinny Dip) night being held at Diogenes Sun Club, there were no shortage of willing members happy to attend and help provide a comfortable and friendly atmosphere for those who were brave enough to take that first step and turn up to our wonderful sun club.

With an opportunity to swim naked in our superb indoor pool, those members of the public who chose to shed their inhibitions and visit Diogenes, enjoyed another good evening at the South East’s premier all year round naturist club.

Diogenes Sun Club is helping British Naturism host the nationwide GBSD events throughout January, February and early March.  Intended in part, as a means of kick-starting new interest in joining a sun club, the GBSD events are an ideal way of helping UK naturist clubs promote themselves by taking part in the national event (when their facilities permit this).

As our attendance figures show, there is still a healthy interest in joining a naturist club, and when you have one with so many excellent facilities available, the only real decision you have to make is “… when can I come again?”.  Diogenes is currently seeking new members, why not contact us today and request your trial visit soonest?

Valentine Supper Evening at Diogenes Sun Club

Despite the arctic weather and a good sprinkling of snow thrown in beforehand, the Valentine event evening went ahead as planned.  Event stalwarts made the pilgrimage to Costco to stock up on the decorations/chocolates/table-cloths etc etc, and then proceeded to set-up the main lounge in readiness for the evening’s supper party.

Decorations took the theme of red love hearts and roses, and with the judicious positioning of a few choice ballons here and there, the scene was set for a good evening.  With no less than 34 members having booked a place, the Chef’s were tasked with creating a supper menu to delight, and they didn’t disappoint.  The starters were very well received and once the main courses started to appear it was apparent that the Chef’s had been prepared to excel themselves.  Serving up either a stuffed chicken breast en-croute with seasonal vegetables, or a herb encrusted salmon fillet with dauphinoise potatoes the diners were soon making in-roads in to clearing their plates with gusto.

The food was excellent throughout, and it was to strong applause that the kitchen took their thanks for having laid on such a superb evening meal.  With desserts aplenty to choose from, and fresh ground coffee with a Lindt chocolate to round off the meal, there were no complaints about the value for money aspect of the affair.

In keeping with true Diogenes style, a raffle was in place, and to ensure that the evening made it’s mark, we created a superb gourmet hamper holding a fabulous Valentine meal for two.  Coquilles St-Jacques, Rib-Eye steaks, fresh vegetables, a delicious heart of strawberrys with double cream, and rounded off with a book of chocolates and a bottle of sparkling pink Cava.

The generosity of the members ensured that every ticket for the super prize was snapped up, and the top notch hamper ensured that we raised a cracking £100.00 for the children’s new play equipment fund.

There was also a further raffle for donated prizes and this in turn added an additional £46.00 to the help boost the club’s funds.  With entertainment coming from our resident magician and entertainer, the tables were treated to a close up display of magic tricks, which was well received by those who were up close and personal to the sleight of hand action.  The main act for the evening was Diogenes very own Mr & Mrs show, with a vigorous grilling of the three willing pairs to answer some very searching and revealing questions about their respective partners.

Contestant No 1, we are so pleased that you decided to share your partner’s recent lingerie purchase with us, but we do wonder whether there should have been quite so much “detail” included ….

However, your daring paid off, and you ultimately picked up the winners prize.

Finishing off the evening with an amusing stand up display of the disappearing bandana (or should that read banana?), and a risky operation to avoid slicing off the hands of members as they were handcuffed inside a guillotine of dubious repute.  The audience were chuckling with mirth as the display also included an invisible pack of cards which magically held the correct two of hearts as chosen by a member of the audience – amazing!

For anyone reading this, please note that whilst we are a true family orientated naturist club, evening events of this nature are textile (we do like to dress up too you know!).  If you would like to join in the fun, why not consider contacting us today and enquire about a free trial visit to our wonderful club?

Children’s Play Equipment Upgrade

Diogenes is investing for the future with a recent Committee agreement to replace and upgrade the children’s play equipment.  With one or two pieces of old equipment beginning to look a little tired, the member’s and current Committee wanted to ensure that we gave prospective family members with younger children, every good reason to join Diogenes Sun Club this coming season.

Due to be installed this first quarter, we are removing the tired old swing and monkey bridge climbing frame, and installing some brand new child friendly climbing and activity equipment for the youngsters.  With its modular approach we will now be able to add to this system as funds permit and ensure that the club continues to improve its facilities for families with younger children.  Even the sandpit is to get a freshen up and have all of the two tonnes of sand replaced anew! With such a delight for the kiddies, there’s no need to venture to the nearest beach, Diogenes has it all here.

Why not make an appointment to come visit us soonest?  With lots of naturist facilities for both adults and children of all ages, Diogenes Sun Club should be your first choice for family naturism in the South East of England.

My Daughter The Teenage Nudist

Screened on Channel 4 last Thursday 12th at 10:00pm this teasingly titled documentary set about trying to show the Great British public just what is happening in the UK, especially in respect to teenagers and their refreshing attitude to nudity and being naked when they feel like it.

With appearances from two of Diogenes Sun Club’s own members both enjoying the sunshine at the Abbey House Gardens open day last summer, the programme certainly made the general public sit up and take notice.  With membership of UK naturist clubs expected to increase with the rising popularity of being naked and folks enjoying the benefits of sunshine on their bare skin, our membership secretary is gearing up for a busy year ahead.

If you’re interested in exploring the many benefits of naturism, and you would like to visit our wonderful club here in the beautiful Chiltern Hills, then why not make contact today, you’re bound to enjoy it, and you’ve got nothing to lose except your clothes!

YBN Post Easter Weekend

YBN Easter Weekend
April 13-15th
This year YBN are having a post ‘Easter Weekend’ at Diogenes Naturist Club just outside the west of London. Where they get the chance to meet up again before the summer starts, to enjoy a more relaxed indoor venue, at a club we haven’t visited before. Although we will have to brave the elements by camping in mid April, but it can often be quite warm by then! We’re going to set the standard for the rest of the year with silly games and the like, and enjoy a fantastic vegetarian curry night being put on especially.

This is our first YBN post Easter event due to popular demand for more youth events in Winter/Spring, due to having many new members we thought we’d try a few things different this year! Plus it’s a good chance to share all your left over chocolate you won’t have eaten by then…

The Beauty of Baring All

LARA Pulver says stripping off for her shock nude Sherlock Holmes scene made her feel more confident than ever.  And she’s not alone …

Swimming Lessons for Youngsters

Diogenes has a qualified swimming instructor (member), who regularly gives of her time to help the club’s youngsters become confident in the water and teaches them how to swim. Asking for nothing more than a reasonable donation to the club’s play equipment fund, this opportunity to learn how to swim is available to all Diogenes member’s children. Another reason why Diogenes Sun Club is the South East’s foremost club for naturism in the UK.

Why not contact us today to see what Diogenes Sun Club life is about? Memberships are currently available, and with the Spring weather not too far away now, there’s never been a better time to join Diogenes.

Keeping Up Appearances

This weekend we will be “Keeping Up Appearances” at Diogenes Sun Club, with one of the many working days that we like to put in to help keep the house and grounds looking good for members and visitors alike.  This Sunday we are tackling the preparation of the hallway, stairs and landings to make ready for the re-decoration work.  A large country house like ours needs lots of attention and upkeep to ensure it remains in fine fettle, and we can always rely on the willing resources from within to help achieve this.

It’s always great fun and very sociable too, plus there’s a tasty home cooked lunch served from our own kitchen to keep the member’s engines running whilst they put their skills to good use.  Once we have covered the tasks for the day we then set to, and relax with either a swim or sauna.  You too could be part of this friendly club, why not apply for a free trial visit and see why Diogenes Sun Club is one of the finest naturist clubs in the South East today?

Barbecue’s at Diogenes in the Summer

Our penchant for serving up great BBQ food knows no bounds, and anyone who has been at the club when Uncle Ken is cooking up a tasty meat feast will know that his marinated & seared chicken thighs and crisply cooked sausages are the talk of the lawn!  With no less than four BBQ grill plates to make use of at anyone time, the much revered BBQ stand is often the place to meet with fellow Diogenes members and enjoy a cheeky beer or nicely chilled Chardonay whilst the “man, meat, fire” process takes place.

If you haven’t been fortunate enough to sample the smoked delights served piping hot from the griddle, then keep an eye out for the publicised club events held during the summer months, there’s sure to be an occasion when we can’t resist wheeling out the colourful BBQ sign board to help Uncle Ken make the most of some fine outdoor cooking in the warmer months!

For those folks who haven’t yet visited the club, why not submit your trial visit application form now? See the Join link in the left hand side menu ….

Shed Your Clothes to Shed Your Pounds

At the turn of the year with everyone feeling the need to get fit and reverse the excesses of the festive period, naturist swim clubs around the country are offering a discount to encourage newcomers to give naturist swim sessions a try.

A spokesman for British Naturism the UK’s national organisation for naturists, who are co-ordinating the scheme, said:
“People may raise their eyebrows at the idea of mixed gender nude swimming sessions in the UK, but opportunities to do so have existed for decades, with many thousands of people up and down the country regularly attending. It only takes 5 minutes to get used to being nude amongst others, and anyone who has been skinny-dipping will know what a relaxing, liberating feeling it is to swim without a costume. Naturism is a very sociable activity and you are sure to make new friends – and keep fit at the same time. Take off your costume and we’ll will take money off your entrance fee!

Diogenes Sun Club will be taking part in this initiative throughout January & February 2012.  Check back regularly for further news updates.
