They came, they saw – and they ‘got bare to care!
Last weekend we held our ‘Get Bare to Care’ skinny dip as part of British Naturism’s Great British Skinny Dip event. All proceeds were for the fabulous Rennie Grove Hospice Care and participants were encouraged to gain sponsorship to challenge themselves by trying something new.
On the day we had 20 participants – the vast majority of whom were in various states of nervousness, having never taken part in any socially nude activity before! With the newly refurbished outdoor pool shimmering crystal clear under the glorious blue sky, we knew this was going to be a great morning – and so it proved! Even BBC Three Counties Radio put in an appearance!
After a countdown from Rennie Grove’s Claire, a cheer heralded the skinny dippers leaping into the water and much swimming, splashing and socialising began. All this was followed by tea and cakes (lovingly made by Diogenes members) and some genteel socialising in the sunshine. All the participants had a thoroughly good time and enjoyed the club’s great facilities and we loved hearing how any misconceptions about Naturism were blown away that morning.
This event was a great success and at the time of writing, over £4,000 has been raised. Thank you to all who took part and made such a great contribution to Rennie Grove. We’re hoping we will run the event again next year so watch this space!
